Cut Her Risk for Developing Osteoporosis
In postmenopausal patients with osteopenia, EVISTA significantly reduced the risk for developing osteoporosis in the lumbar spine over 5 years2:

In a post-hoc analysis of two 3-year prospective osteoporosis prevention trials* with 2-year extensions, a subset of young postmenopausal women with osteopenia of the lumbar spine (n=146, mean age 55, mean T-score -1.733) were examined. In this population, two women taking EVISTA vs 12 women taking placebo developed osteoporosis. Among women with osteopenia of the total hip at baseline, EVISTA did not significantly reduce the risk for developing osteoporosis.2
*In the primary analysis, EVISTA prevented bone loss by increasing BMD in the lumbar spine, total hip, and femoral neck over 24 months vs placebo. This analysis included 24-month data from two 3-year, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled osteoporosis prevention trials with 1,145 postmenopausal women (mean age 54 years) who had normal or low BMD. All women received calcium (400-600 mg/day).
